📜 Detailed Day Trip Itinerary
🗺️
Your exploration of ancient Egypt’s hidden gems begins with a very early pickup around 5:00 AM
from your hotel in Marsa Alam 🚗. Meet your expert Egyptologist guide
(fluent in English, German, Russian, Italian, Czech, or Polish) and settle in for the long drive north
towards Abydos (approx. 5-6+ hours). Admire the passing scenery and listen as your guide shares insights into
the history you’re about to witness.
Arrive at Abydos, considered one of ancient Egypt’s most sacred sites, believed to be the
burial place of the god Osiris. Your focus will be the magnificent Temple of Seti I,
renowned for its unique L-shaped layout, multiple sanctuaries, and some of the most exquisite and
well-preserved reliefs in all of Egypt 🏛️. Explore the intricate
carvings depicting gods, pharaohs, and rituals, including the famous Abydos King List.
After delving into the mysteries of Abydos, continue your journey southwards to Dendara
(approx. 1.5-2 hours). Here, you’ll visit the stunningly preserved Temple of Hathor, goddess
of love, music, and joy 🎨. Marvel at the vibrant colors still visible
on the walls and ceilings, the massive columns with Hathor-headed capitals, and the famous Dendara Zodiac
relief (a replica, the original is in the Louvre). Learn about the temple’s construction during the late
Ptolemaic and Roman periods on foundations dating back to the Old Kingdom. Take ample time for photos in this
breathtaking location.
(Please note: Lunch is not explicitly mentioned as included in the tour description. You may need to arrange
this with your guide or pack your own). Following your visit to Dendara, begin the long return drive south
back to Marsa Alam. Expect to arrive at your hotel late in the evening (typically between 9:00 PM and 11:00
PM), filled with memories of these unique ancient temples.
